The eighth episode of Game of Thrones’ sixth season is titled “House of the Dragon.” In it, Cersei Lannister takes control of the Iron Throne, while Daenerys Targaryen continues her march toward Westeros. Jon Snow joins forces with Davos Seaworth and the Night’s Watch, while Tyrion travels to Volantis to seek help against his sister. Meanwhile, Jaime and Brienne continue their journey together.
We start off with a flashback to the Battle of Blackwater Bay, where Jaime tells Brienne he’s been chosen to escort her safely to Riverrun. He asks her to

In present day, Arya Stark arrives at Winterfell and meets Bran and Meera Reed. They tell her that Jon Snow is dead, and she’s shocked. Sansa tells her that Jon died defending her honor, and Arya agrees. Then, she sees a vision of a man named Rickon, who looks just like Robb. She thinks he might be alive, and wants to find out for sure.
Meanwhile, Daenerys Targaryan lands at Storm’s End, where she encounters Ser Jorah Mormont. He tells her that the Dothraki are eager to fight for her, but she needs to take care of some things first. She says she needs to go north to meet with Viserys Targaryen. But he warns her that Viserys isn’t someone you want to cross.
Back in the North, Jon Snow decides to join up with Davos and the men of the Night’s Watch. He gives them a letter from Melisandre, telling them that she has a plan to defeat the Army of the Dead. He also reveals that he killed the White Walker that attacked Castle Black last week. Davos promises to keep Jon safe, and they part ways.
Tyrion goes to Volantis to speak with Shireen Baratheon, who is now ruling the city. She tells him that she’d like to marry Loras Tyrell, but Tyrion says he won’t allow it unless Loras marries Sansa. He tells her that he’ll make sure Sansa gets married to Ramsay Bolton. Shireen says she’ll think about it, and Tyrion leaves.
Jaime and Bronn arrive at Riverrun, where they meet with Edmure Tully. He tells them that Jaime has no claim to the throne, and that he’s willing to give him command of the garrison. The story takes place about 200 years before the events of the original Game of Thrones show. A group of noble families are fighting over control of the Seven Kingdoms. In the north, Daenerys Targaryen, widow of Drogo, rules the largest city, Meereen, while her three dragons terrorize the countryside. To the east, Jon Snow leads his wildlings against the White Walkers in the frozen lands beyond the Wall. And south, Cersei Lannister rules King’s Landing with the support of Tywin Lannister, whose armies protect the capital from Robert Baratheon, the king’s brother.
In the middle of it all stands House Reyne, led by Eddard Stark, Lord of Winterfell. He is determined to keep the North strong and independent, even though he knows that winter is coming. But the Starks are not alone. There are many powerful houses vying for power, including the Lannisters, the Karstarks, and the Tullys. Alliances are forged and broken, and blood is spilled across the land.
House of the Dragon features a completely new cast and storyline. Some characters return from the books, such as Arya Stark, Bran Stark, Sansa Stark, Littlefinger, Davos Seaworth, and Varys. Others make their debut in the series, like Ser Jorah Mormont, Ellaria Sand, and Shae.

HBO Max just announced that it will stream the entire seventh season of Game of Thrones starting today. And you don’t even need cable TV to catch up with the action.
The premium network will offer new episodes each Monday throughout the summer — including tonight’s episode, “Beyond the Wall,” which airs at 9 p.m. ET/PT. New episodes will continue to drop weekly until the show wraps up in late July.
Fans will have to wait a little longer to see what happens next, however. While there are no plans to air the finale live, HBO Max will release the full season seven set on Aug. 27.
In addition to the premiere date announcement, HBO Max also revealed some additional information about the upcoming season. For starters, fans won’t have to worry about spoilers. The network promises to keep everything under wraps until the very last moment.
And while we’re sure that plenty of people will want to binge the whole thing in one sitting, HBO Max says there will be opportunities to watch individual episodes over multiple days.
There are still many unanswered questions regarding the final season of GoT, though. Will Jon Snow really die? What exactly happened to Daenerys Targaryen? How did Cersei Lannister survive the Red Wedding massacre? We’ll find out soon enough.
